Cafe Cook @ de Baarsjes

Last monday I've celebrated my sisters' birthday with diner at Cook, a well hidden café in Amsterdam West. I love the atmosphere of this cafe, it is very friendly, informal and cozy. I had drinks at Cook a few times before, but I never had diner here. I don' t really understand why, cause it was soo good! Cook looks like a small neighbourhood café but the food is way better than that. As a starter, I had a salad with roasted beet roots, caramelized pecan nuts, a lovely dressing and some kind of blue cheese (€ 7,50). My main course was 'rotollo', an Italian dish that looked a bit like canneloni; stuffed rolls of lasagna with spinach and ricotta (€14,00). As a vegetarian, it is not always easy to eat something else then a salad with goat's cheese, but this menu was pretty nice! The carnivores in our group were also very satisfied, they had grilled duck breast and a perfectly rosé entrecôte.
Cook has a menu with 4 starters and 4 mains, and it changes it's menu step by step. Each time they have a new dish, another dish has to go. In this way, the menu is always a bit different from last time you were here. In the summer there is a big terrace outside, another good reason to check this cafe out!
